imageSouthernism of the Week: “She’s got some snap in her garters.” Depending on whom you ask, this either means she's capable or she has sex appeal. Either way it sounds better than saggy garters.

Last weekend, Kris and friends headed out to Fort Sumner, NM, for a day trip, stopping at the Abo Pueblo Mission ruins on the way to the Billy the Kid Museum. You can probably guess which of those this is.

imageThey also ate at a great diner in Vaughn, NM, a tiny railroad town. The diner had this sign inside. 😲 Kris had chicken fried steak instead.

Kris’s voice recognition mistake of the day: “Laminate this early?”

No, that was supposed to be "Why am I up this early?" I will not be laminating, or being laminated, if I have anything to say about the matter.

Bonus technology mistake from a friend who went on the day trip above, which was partly a business trip since Kris is writing an article about the museum: “My phone wants business to be nudist. I hope this isn't a nudist trip.” (It wasn't.)

imagePierce Me (Heartbreaker Duet Book 1), by M.C. Frank: “When I was almost eighteen, the girl I loved left me without a word. That was the day that my heart stopped beating. And now, four years later, I am standing on the edge of a cliff, in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I look down. Ten meters or more of solid, jagged-sharp rocks and then a glittering emerald pool of water at the bottom. And also, she. She is at the bottom, in the water. In danger. Pierce Me is a second-chance angsty romance about a pop idol and the girl who destroyed him.”

imageA Cup of Zodiac, by Alexis Gorgun: “Zoey Phillips's latest choices put her in the ‘Disowned by Family’ club after her ex blew her life apart. Fleeing to Portland, Zoey swears off all men. She hopes a popular horoscope app will make better choices than she can. With cosmic backup, she aims to transform her life to impress her family before her sister's wedding.
