It’s okay to work a drone pace. 🐝

Voice recognition mistake of the day: “It’s okay to work a drone pace.” 🐝
Hm, drone like a remote-controlled flying robot, a stingless male bee, or a menial worker? Let’s stick with “at your own pace.”
That was from the writing of A Stone Cold Murder. “Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book” reviewed it: “The author did a wonderful job explaining Petra’s gift and included ways it shook up her life. I became invested in her life easily. Her inner dialogues touched my heart. Ms. Bock has surrounded Petra with a well-crafted, quirky cast of characters. Ms. Bock penned a complex mystery with many layers… A Stone Cold Murder is an excellent start for this series.”
In the Reluctant Psychic Mystery series, a quirky loner who can read the history of any object with her touch gets drawn into mysteries at the museum of oddities where she works.
The blog tour for the release included a stop at Brenda Whiteside’s blog, where I shared a Breakfast Burrito recipe.
Are you a cat lover? You could design your travel around hotels that have cat ambassadors! Here’s a list.
The Furrever Friends Sweet Romance series features the workers and customers at a small-town cat café, and the adorable cats and kittens looking for their forever homes. Each book is a complete story with a happy ending for one couple (and maybe more than one rescued cat).
Ferrets: Mercury (darker) is no longer notably smaller than Rigby, but they remain best buds who help each other with their ferret yoga.

Rejected: A Jo and Laurie retelling by M.C. Frank: “Unruly, with more interest in books, writing, and swordfights than in corsets and slippers, Jo is struggling to find her place in Regency London’s marriage mart. At least she still has her best friend, Laurie. She can rely on him not to succumb to any silly romantic ideas. Orphaned at infancy, Laurie’s friendship with Jo has saved him every day. Too bad he is about to utterly wreck it. Because Laurie is about to propose to Jo. It is going to be a resounding disaster. And that, by far, is not the worst thing that’s about to happen.” A bit darker and more interesting take on Jo and Laurie from Little Women, per one reader.
Stone Harbor Cottage by Coral Harper: “When Emma Hartley returns to her late grandmother’s beach cottage, she’s hoping for closure. Instead, she stumbles into a web of family secrets, unfinished love stories, and small-town silence that has lasted for generations. With the help of a few unexpected allies—and the resistance of those determined to keep the past hidden—Emma must decide what’s worth fighting for. Shoreline Secrets is a clean, captivating series about love, legacy, and the courage it takes to face the stories we’ve been told—and the ones we need to tell ourselves.” A "heartfelt women’s fiction series."
Shilling & Florin: The Jack of Hearts Murders by Kate Haley: “A serial killer is stalking the streets of Victorian London and no one is safe… Charles Shilling, empathetic genius and amateur sleuth, keeps out of trouble with the law by solving more crimes than he commits. Amelia Florin, brilliant medical student and noblewoman, is desperate to stop a killer. Every new victim makes her feel like she’s the one being hunted, and Shilling is the only person who values her insight. Set in an alternate and progressive universe, Shilling & Florin are on the case in a diverse and unique portrayal of London.” Readers praise the characters and unique setting.

I played hooky yesterday and went on a hike with a friend. Out in the central New Mexico desert, the ocotillo cacti are blooming. They always look weird, like something from Dr. Seuss, but when in bloom they also look pretty! Note how my friend's head seems to disappear against the rock background though. 😂
Bonus ferret photo: the white and pink foot in the middle belongs to Rigby, the light-colored one, not Mercury.
