Here’s Doug at the Burbank Film Festival awards ceremony, where he presented awards for original and adapted feature screenplays in the screenwriting contest.

Doug is doing a book signing of the Felony Melanie books before the 20th Anniversary Screening of Sweet Home Alabama at the Hollywood Foreign Legion on Sunday, September 25th. Book signing at 1pm, screening at 2 pm, Q&A afterwards. Learn more here.

imageBig thanks to Roger, for reviewing Felony Melanie and the Prank War! He said it's "even better than the earlier books in the series. As much as I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read from this author this read grabbed me and kept me reading until finished it in one sitting." Visit the Amazon series page or the B&N page for Felony Melanie: Sweet Home Alabama romantic comedy novels or find the links to other ebook retailers.

In Felony Melanie and the Prank War, Wade shows off his ‘90s dance moves: the Macarena, hammer time, the running man, the cabbage patch and even voguing. Learn about these dances and more in "You know how to floss, but can you do the hammer?"

Say what? Kris read a book that included this passage:

"Did I hurt you?" she asked, staring at his throat, always so tough on the outside yet so soft on the inside.

🤔 It was not a vampire novel, so I was pretty sure it wasn't his throat that was tough on the outside yet soft inside, but it still took me several reads to figure out the meaning.

imageIn Kris's humorous Accidental Detective series, a witty journalist solves mysteries in Arizona and tackles the challenges of starting over in midlife. Book 3, Someone Cruel in Coyote Creek, is out October 3! You can preorder it now at all ebook retailers.

Kate Tessler receives an anonymous message claiming that Mayor Todd Paradise is taking bribes. Could good guy Todd, Kate’s almost boyfriend, really be corrupt, or are political enemies trying to destroy his career? Kate sets out to discover the truth, with help from her multi-generational, unconventional, and often troublesome crew. She thrived reporting from war zones, but can she survive a deadly fundraising party, a close encounter with a taser, a turn at an open mic night, and a hundred-pound dog named Whiskers?

Order Someone Cruel in Coyote Creek here.

Kris’s voice recognition mistake of the day: “Today we hiked the Deer Trap hike in Los Alamos, featuring an ancient pathway and pit for catching beer, plus great views.”

(Er, that’s “a trap for catching deer,” although the alternative would probably be much more popular today!)

Kris's ferrets provide constant amusement:
