What's really important? playtime and naps! 🩩

Voice recognition mistake of the day: “I’m old over what he’d said so far.” Gee, what did he say to make me feel old? đŸ‘” Oh, wait, I mulled over what he’d said so far.

imageThat was from writing book 7 in the Accidental Detective humorous mystery series, title to be determined at some point before it comes out. The audiobook for book 1, Something Shady at Sunshine Haven, will be out in November! Do you listen to audiobooks? In this series, a witty journalist solves mysteries in Arizona and tackles the challenges of turning fifty.

imageI'm at a writing conference in Colorado this weekend, where I’ll present four workshops and do manuscript critiques. Also, Reluctantly Psychic book 2 is due to the editor on the 30th! After that, I’m ghostwriting a management book, critiquing two novels, and writing an article for a high school chemistry magazine. Such is the lazy life of a working writer. 😅

Meanwhile, it still feels like summer in New Mexico, but at least it's cooling down a little – especially good since our AC needs to be recharged and is only working at about twenty percent capacity until we can get someone to service it. (A three-week wait in our small town.)

Bear Bear reminds us of what's really important: playtime and naps.

imageMurder At High Sea , by Karen McSpade: “A southern all-girl band from the ‘80s, The Delta Queens hope to revive their musical career as the headlining show on a cruise ship. But after a rehearsal session goes awry and a member of the crew is murdered, Doris, Rosemary, Margie, and Patty Sue are caught in the spotlight as suspects without alibis. Clearing their names becomes more difficult when a quirky journalist shares a secret obsession, a guest mysteriously disappears, and a raving fan makes a shocking revelation.” This sounds so fun!

imagePostcards from the Cove , by Jennifer Bardsley: “Grieving the loss of her father, Hannah seeks comfort in one of Sand Dollar Cove resort’s oldest cottages – and finds old postcards hidden. Reading “I still believe in our happily ever after” on one of the cards, she traces the postcards’ owner to New York and sends them off. When the postcards reveal a surprising link between Hannah and Guy, the resort’s handsome new trainer, will the truth bind them together or tear them apart for good?” Readers call it wonderful, heartwarming, and a page turner.

imageThe Cowboy’s Reunited Christmas , by Danae Little: “When her best friend passes away, Joy goes home to Christmas Tree Ranch and faces her friend’s brother, the love of her life who broke her heart. Tanner is devastated by his estranged twin sister’s death, but then Joy comes home with three year old Caden, who looks exactly like him. Their love rekindles but they will have to remain steadfast in order to withstand the onslaught of the past. Will the truth push them apart forever or will it set them free?” A well-rated “clean and wholesome romance.”

imageMurder at Elk Ridge , by Anne Shillolo: “Hilary Casgrain moved halfway across the country for a fresh start in small-town law enforcement, but a serial killer spoils Hilary’s dreams of a low-key career change. Plus, the sergeant at her new posting is her nemesis, George ‘Goat’ Rundle, while officer Riley Mills is young, smart, eager, and a dead ringer for The Hangman’s victims. The animosity between Hilary and Goat is an advantage The Hangman could exploit. Can Hilary steer the investigation back on track before Riley has to pay the price?” This police procedural is reviewed as suspenseful and exciting.
