Yogiferret Bear Bear in half pretzel pose (also book stuff!)

Voice recognition mistake of the day: “I'm enjoying the ground lump all angle.” I was enjoying the Edgar Allan Poe angle in a mystery novel. 🤷‍♀️

I turned in book 1 of a new mystery series to my editor! The Scry Murder series: A quirky loner who can read the history of any object with her touch gets drawn into mysteries when people bring troubled artifacts to the museum of oddities where she works.

imageIt was fun to write. Now I’m back with Kate and the gang, planning book 7 (!) of the Accidental Detective humorous mystery series: a witty journalist solves mysteries in Arizona and tackles the challenges of turning fifty.

Both are funny, I hope, but they have very different characters, and of course the new series adds a paranormal element.

As I get into the next book, I'm choosing which characters to include. Who are your favorite sidekicks in the Accidental Detective series? Take this quick poll to let me know! (Or reply to this email.)

I can't decide which is cuter – Bear Bear's little feet, or him peeking back to look out. What do you think? image

It's definitely spring in New Mexico, with the black locust trees blooming in purple and white to match the irises!

Have your read Pride and Prejudice at The Cat Café? If so, would you leave a review (on Amazon, BookBub, GoodReads or anywhere you can!)? I only have 3 reviews as of this writing, which looks a little sad. But big thanks to those who did review it, and all those who reviewed and/or rated Coffee and Crushes at the Cat Café – book 1 now has over 400 ratings with a 4.4 star average! (Tip: If you can't think of anything to say in a review, you can just give it a star rating. The more you liked it, the more stars you give.)

imageBlind Sight: Murder by Balcony (Lucille Pfiffer Mystery Series Book 1), by Tanya R. Taylor: "Lucille Pfiffer sees, but not with her eyes. She lives with her beloved dog Vanilla in a cozy neighborhood that is quite "active" due to what occurred in the past. Though totally blind, she plays an integral role in helping to solve pressing and puzzling mysteries, one right after the other. The question is: How can she do any of that while blind?" I'm really curious about this one, and it's rated 4.2 out of 5 stars with 350 ratings!

imageThe Comfy Canine Murder Case, by Adele M. Cooper: "Divorce attorney Paige Moore is both exhausted and bored. When Paige takes her new puppy to a training school and a dog trainer is murdered, Paige is driven to solve the case. Jack, the town’s sheriff and her boyfriend, insists that she stay out of it, but Paige can’t sit still. Juggling her cases, her desire for excitement and her resentment at being forced away, Paige races to find the truth before the killers can slip through her grasp." Featuring a beagle named Barkley! Reviewers mention many twists in this "fun cozy murder mystery."

imageA Cowboy's Recipe for Romance, by A.B. Proebstel: "Randy Easton is a rancher at heart, so the wealthy Texan takes his girlfriend to the family homestead. There Randy searches for his suddenly missing parents, struggles to keep his would-be bridezilla happy, and strikes a fast friendship with the country-gal cook. Aspiring songwriter Becky Monroe has found her groove as personal chef to rich cattlemen. She does her best to maintain a professional distance but can’t help but fall for the boss’s gorgeous son. Reviewers praise the charming characters and give it 4.3 out of 5 stars with over 450 ratings!
