Getting ready for NaNoWriMo +Scrivener quickstart guide

Hello, writers!

My NaNo plan is in place: I’m going to pick up drafting the novel I halted back in March. I stopped because it had pandemic elements and I couldn’t bear to have that in reality and my fiction at the same time. So I put it in a drawer, unsure if I’d ever pick it up again.

Some six months later I started to get the itch again. That’s how drawer projects work--when they’ve had enough percolation time they resurface.

Of course, having looked at it again now I want to change the second half. It’s good I have everything in Scrivener and ready to mix-and-match scenes.

Since NaNoWriMo is just a few weeks away, I thought now would be a good time to share my Scrivener quick-start guide. Instead of teaching you all the bells and whistles, this post is about just what you need to get started using the software for NaNo.

And if you do want to go more in-depth, I’ve linked out to some more resources at the end of the post. You can also check out my blog for more Scrivener tips.

In other news, it’s spring here and I found this soup a really nice transition-season recipe: Curried Split Pea Soup. It uses coconut milk and a dash of lemon juice to brighten the flavors, while still being hearty for chilly weather.

What are your plans for November writing, and what are you eating while the seasons change?

Good luck preparing!
