2 quick questions to start the year off right

Happy new year, folks!

I hope you're feeling ready to tackle a new decade of writing challenges.

My fiction plans for the next few months are set. What I'm not as sure about are my nonfiction goals. I want to do something that is actually useful to you, so I've made a brief 2-question survey. I deeply appreciate your feedback!

Here's the not-so-brief explanation of what the options are, in case you want more information.

Option 1: Expand the Monster Novel Structure Workbook's reach

This is my book on story structure for novels, which is currently only available in ebook, but comes with a bunch of useful downloads. This book is due for a little sprucing up (back-matter content, making sure my links still work, etc.), and if I'm diving back into it I may as well go whole-hog.

In the past people have expressed interest in a print edition of the Workbook. I can either set up a paperback edition you can purchase (still with a link to the downloads), or I can make a PDF file that is formatted nicely so you can print it yourself or take it to a print shop. (There is currently a PDF but it's not formatted well.)

I've also toyed with the idea of creating an online course based on the Workbook. This would be a big undertaking, but it could be very helpful for people who learn better this way. I don't want to just replicate the content, although that would be part of it. It should push the envelope and add value on its own. If you're interested in this and have ideas, let me know!

For the record, I'm not considering an audiobook because this is, primarily, a visual system. Also, creating audiobooks is expensive.

Option 2: Write a new book on writing groups

This has been in my pipeline for a while and just hasn't been a priority yet. I have an outline for a book that is soup-to-nuts about writing groups. What kinds of groups exist, where to find them, how to start them, how to run them, all the important stuff. It should be useful to both new writers seeking community for the first time and writers who are looking to lead. And yes, there will be a big section about codes of conduct and making spaces safe for all members of the community (minus people who wish others harm).

I can create an ebook, and/or a print edition, and/or some downloads. I'd like to know which options you'd definitely like to see, or which you're not interested in at all.

Price for the ebook would probably be in $4.99 range, and the downloads wouldn't be as many or as substantial as the Workbook's.

Answer the 2-question survey

Again, I'm asking because I want to know what you want. As always, if you have any questions or ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Next week I'll have a blog post on Publisher's Marketplace and how important it can be to your agent search!
