Making writing plans--will you pants 2020?

Happy festive season, all! Whatever you are or aren't celebrating, I hope you enjoy the downtime from regular responsibilities.

I wanted to have something really useful for you this week, but I'm wrung out and my wrists hurt from drafting at a bad angle. (Note to self: do NOT do that again.) So instead I'm going to point you to a few videos I've enjoyed and benefited from in figuring out how I want 2020 to go.

The last month has been all about planning for me. Planning writing projects, planning my life, planning my planner pages. (I'm still debating what one of my big nonfiction writing projects should be, and I'd appreciate if you'd answer this 2-question survey.) My big resolution for 2020 is to track my writing habits so I can iterate.

Both last year and this year I used Sarra Cannon's How to Plan Your 2020 Writing Schedule workbook and video guide. I'm a big fan of her Heartbreathings channel for writers.

Elyssa Nalani's How to Set Resolutions and Goals for 2020 helped me come up with a system for goal-setting in the rest of my life beyond writing.

And starting in January my weekly spread is going to make use of the Alastair Method to track not only that I got things done, but how long it took me to do them. Boho Berry has a nice explainer video.

Have you got a plan for your writing in 2020? Or are you going to pants it? 😜

See you next year!
