[reko.day] Getting Ready For Launch
Sep 08, 2023 7:07 pm
Happy Friday,
Well, I don't have time to record a video of the reko.day's app progress, but I'm down to the very last few things before the first launch.
So what's left?
- Setting up refunds
- Testing seller onboarding
- Sending receipt emails
And a lot of looking over things and making sure it goes well. That's where you can make a huge difference. The more people who play with this app prior to its nationwide launch for iPhones, the better experience it will be. Reply to this email if you'd like an early copy.
Now, let's say you're not interested in beta testing, but you do want to see reko.day succeed, there is plenty you can do.
Start looking for places to host a reko!
A reko is a public pickup time and location. So a reko might be at your local library at 6 PM every Thursday.
WIthout rekos, farmers can't list their goods for sale and you can't pick them up. So, keep an eye out. I've given this some thought too, and here's a list of places that are on my mind as good candidates.
- Libraries
- Churches
- Parks
- Schools (Weekends only)
- Shopping Malls
The main thing is a big parking lot. Now, creating a reko is simple but there is one main ruleāget permission!
Getting permission ensures when people show up to pick up local goods and produce from farmers, the business, park, or church isn't going to be upset that everyone showed up for a few minutes.
All it takes is a quick conversation where you can say something like:
"I was wondering if you'd be alright with a weekly gathering in your parking lot so locals can come pickup their orders from local farmers. It would take less than an hour, and it'd be a great way to support local farmers. If you want to know more, you can check out https://reko.day"
I'm also trying to think of a way to make it worthwhile. I've been thinking of maybe sending out some swag or giving a free year's subscription for creating rekos that get used. I bet you have some good ideas there too, so let me know!
Sincerely,
Ryan
