[reko.day] Let the Farmer's Markets Begin!
Mar 17, 2023 2:01 pm
Happy Friday,
For those of you who don't know, I live in Arkansas, and this Saturday marks the beginning of the farmer's market season.
Why does that matter? Farmers' markets are how most of us buy fresh, local produce. So for the next few months, people all over the country can meet local food producers and buy something fresh.
Now, there is another reason I'm excited about the farmer's market season starting—it's the best time to promote reko.day!
Admittedly I wanted to be further along with my mobile app, but it doesn't matter. People all over the country are about to spend their Saturdays browsing tents and stalls from local farmers, and I want all of them to know about reko.day!
So I must move quickly, and as always, I'm enlisting your help.
One thing I'm going to do is make some business cards to hand out at the farmer's markets that I attend.
Another thing is that I will set up a way for you to get people to sign up for prizes. I have to iron out what prizes to offer, so if you have ideas, let me know. So far, I'm thinking of waiving the charges for the app and merchandise, but let me know what you think!
What I think I'll do is set up the ability for each of you to do referrals to this handy-dandy newsletter, and it will track your prizes along the way. I'll also probably begin to run some giveaways soon too!
So keep an eye out!
Now, let me give you an update on the mobile application. I mentioned before that it was time for me to swap out my sort of pretend version of storing data for the real deal. That is chugging along quite nicely. This leaves two major areas to sort out:
- The design needs to be a lot prettier
- Handling when things go wrong
The first is straightforward enough. What I built is functional but not delightful, and that has to get addressed.
The second is a lot less straightforward and involves a lot of small things. For example, I need to give some thought as to how I want to handle rescheduling a reko pickup or getting a refund. I also need to add a way to mark orders as complete and fulfilled to help keep the experience clean but, more importantly, to help track sellers and rate them as trustworthy.
So while I'm swapping out the pretend storage for real storage, there aren't many visible updates to show, so hang tight.
Time to go hire a designer!
Sincerely,
Ryan
