For the Overthinkers Tonight
May 17, 2026 11:17 pm
Good evening ,
I’m sitting with something tonight.
My mind is already five days ahead — running through emails, decisions, things unfinished, things I still want to build. And the week hasn’t even started yet.
I wonder if you feel it too.
That quiet shift that happens on Sunday afternoons, where you stop resting and start rehearsing.
I caught myself doing it just now. Body tight. Thoughts loud. Already somewhere I haven’t been yet.
So I stopped.
And I reminded myself — I don’t have to carry the whole week tonight.
Not in my head.
Not in my chest.
Not yet.
What I’m doing instead is simple.
Slower breath.
One thought at a time.
Letting this evening actually be the evening instead of a countdown to Monday.
There will always be more to do. That part doesn’t change.
But I’ve learned — slowly, and more than once — that peace doesn’t come from solving everything before it arrives.
It comes from choosing to come back.
To here.
To now.
Before the week takes over.
So if your mind feels full tonight, pause for a second.
Jaw unclenched.
Shoulders down.
One breath.
You don’t have to rehearse the whole week before it begins.
You’re allowed to just be here.
In the quiet.
In the fading light.
In whatever softness this evening still has left to offer.
Let it hold you.
With care,
Dr. Sandra Hamilton
