In Honour Of The Un-named
May 09, 2026 12:01 pm
Dear ,
Mother's Day is tomorrow.
It can be beautiful for some.
And for others, it can stir grief, memory, anger, tenderness, longing, confusion, or quiet strength.
Today, , I want to honour the women and men who are not always named.
The women who became mothers through violence.
The women harmed within marriage.
The women who chose not to have children and still pour life into the world.
The women grieving a mother or mother figure.
The women learning to mother themselves.
And the men who loved a mother they have lost.
The men who never knew one. The men who have mothered others in quiet, unnamed ways.
The men carrying tenderness they were never given permission to express.
The ones who carry invisible stories… quietly, and often alone.
You matter here too.
Tomorrow, I have a small gift for you — a gentle offering of reflection, comfort, and care.
It will arrive in your inbox in the morning.
Wherever this day finds you,
may you feel no pressure to perform.
May you be met with softness.
May you remember that your story counts.
With love,
Dr Sandra Hamilton
