When the Rain Comes (And You Can’t Control It)

Dear ,
It’s pouring rain here as I write this.
The kind of rain that makes you stop everything.
The kind that reminds you that some things are simply beyond your control.
It’s Christmas week, and maybe you had plans.
Maybe things were supposed to look different.
Maybe you’re sitting with disappointment, frustration, or that familiar ache of wishing you could force life to go your way.
But here’s what this rain is teaching me:
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is allow.
Allow the rain to fall.
Allow things to unfold.
Allow ourselves to loosen our grip on outcomes we were never meant to carry alone.
This isn’t giving up.
It isn’t resignation.
It’s a quieter kind of strength.
It’s recognizing that growth doesn’t only happen when we’re managing, fixing, or pushing forward. Sometimes it happens when we stop bracing… and start listening.
The seed doesn’t control the rain.
It simply receives it.
And somehow, in that receiving, in that allowing—it grows.
So, , if you find yourself in a season of uncertainty—
If you’re tired of holding everything together—
If you’ve done the “strong” thing for a very long time—
You can still grow in the waiting, in the not-knowing, in the moments when all you can do is trust. You don’t have to have it all figured out first.
This is the space where Soul Repair begins.
Not as a quick fix.
Not as another thing to power through.
But as a gentle, guided return to yourself—especially for those places that learned to survive instead of soften.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be opening the doors to Soul Repair—a slow, intentional journey for those who are ready to stop fighting the rain and begin restoring what has quietly been worn down inside.
Maybe this Christmas week, the gift isn’t getting everything right.
Maybe it’s learning to sit with what is… and discovering you’re stronger—and safer—than you thought.
With grace for your journey,
Dr Sandra Hamilton
