Some Hearts Need More Than Chocolate

Hello ,

Valentine’s week can be loud.

Hearts, roses, chocolate, red everywhere.

A kind of glossy celebration that can feel beautiful—or painfully out of sync with your actual life.

Because some hearts need more than chocolate.

Some hearts are grieving what will never be again.

Some are relearning how to breathe after betrayal.

Some are lying beside someone they love,

yet feeling deeply alone.

Some are holding memories instead of a person.

And some are simply tired—

tired of being the strong one, the hopeful one,

the one who keeps trying.

If this is you, I want to say something that may feel rare this week:

There is nothing wrong with your heart.

It is not too much.

It is not too broken.

It is not too complicated.

It is simply asking for what it truly needs—

presence, tenderness, rest, and truth.

Love is not always roses and celebration.

Sometimes love is allowing yourself to stop pretending.

Sometimes love is giving your heart space to exhale.

Sometimes love is sitting quietly with the ache instead of rushing to fix it.

Your heart is wiser than the holiday.

It knows what it needs.

Perhaps it needs gentleness.

Perhaps it needs release.

Perhaps it needs a boundary, a cry, a walk,

or to be held by someone who doesn’t need you to be “fine.”

Whatever your heart is asking for…

please listen.

This season isn’t about performing romance.

It’s about returning to the quiet truth inside you—

the place where you are still whole,

even when life feels shattered.

May you give yourself the love that feels real.

Not the love the world says you should want.

With grace,

Dr H
