This is what belonging looks like

Dear ,

I want to share something close to my heart.

This is a photo of two of my (several) adopted children. A brother and sister.

I love this particular picture of them because it is filled with so much joy. A bunch of us had gone to church together and then went to the nearby park for a picnic.

What you see here isn’t just playfulness. It’s trust. It’s the freedom to lean on someone and know they won’t let you fall. It’s joy breaking through the cracks of all the hard places life has given them.

That’s what belonging looks like.

That’s what healing feels like.

So many of us carry stories where love wasn’t safe. Where family didn’t protect us. Where joy felt like something other people got to have, not us.

But here’s the truth: joy and belonging are not lost forever. They can be found again, rebuilt, created in new spaces with new people.

This is why I created Soul Story Weekend. It’s a space to remember that your story isn’t just about pain — it’s also about resilience, laughter, and the chance to be carried when you’re tired of walking alone.

Your story deserves to include joy.

Your story deserves belonging.

Will you join us in October?
