Here is a breakdown we put together of the Sweet 16 games on March 27th.

Loyola Chicago vs. Oregon State

Loyola Chicago coming of the big win over in-state # 1 seed Illinois is a well balanced team they have a phenomenal defense and Coach Proser Chin Actions on offense are tough to stop with Cameron Krutwig scoring ability, passing ability in the High Post or Low block.

Loyola Spain Pick and Roll play. They hit the back screener for a 3 pointer. The Spain pick and roll is a very popular action to run and very difficult to guard.

Oregon State is one of 4 teams from the Pac 12 in the sweet 16. Coach Trenkle teams execute on a high level with innovative sets and their flow style ball screen offense. He will mix it up on the defensive side of the ball.

Baylor vs. Villanova

Baylor has gotten back to its form since they were hit with the Covid bug. They are looking every bit like they did early on in the season when everyone was saying Gonzaga and Baylor are on a collision course for the National Championship.

The guards for Baylor are very skilled and they have post players that can get the job done. Baylor always plays tough pressure no middle defense.

For those in the know Associate Head Coach, Jerome Tang is key in Baylor’s success on defense. In the clip below Coach Tang goes over a few drills they use to go over their spacing on the perimeter and communication. These drills help with their unselfishness

Coach Tang discussed in the previous clip.

One of their main teaching point for the perimeter players is to  “pop the bubble” and “play off two” Coach Tang describes in this video clip
