Presbyterian College Women’s Head Coach Alaura Sharp discusses the shooting drills she uses to give her players a competitive edge.

She breaks down each drill in an easy way to incorporate skill and develop confidence.

#1 - Rapid Fire Shooting

Rapid Fire Shooting is an early practice drill to get your players a good-feel for the gym and the ball.

The drill is a 5 spot drill where you look to make 5 shots per spot.

The drill is divided into two teams on both sides of the court where they are competing against each other.

#2 - Blue Hose Shooting

Blue Hose shooting is a 3 point drill that is a pre practice drill.

The goal is to make 90 3’s in 5 minutes as a team.

A player shoots the basketball then gets their own rebound and throws it to the next line.

This is a fast-paced competitive drill that gets your team a lot of shots.

#3 - Skip Shooting

Skip shooting is a great drill to throw a skip pass.

Throwing skip passes is a skill that can have defenses scrambling.

There is 4 minutes on the clock and the players have to make 10 in each corner and 15 makes on each wing.

This drill will take organization and communication to perform successfully.
