Can you disagree and still be kind?

Hi ,
Today I want to talk about direct communication with you.
The world is full of heartbreaking events right now and you may be feeling like you are walking on eggshells, especially around family members over the holidays.
Pumpkin pie and politics, anyone?
So how can we speak our truth and still keep the peace this season?
I suggest we learn how to have a difficult conversation.
To be clear, I don't mean yelling, fighting, or confronting someone who is toxic, abusive, or unwilling to listen.
I do suggest you consider having an open discussion with someone you care about, so that you can repair, maintain, or improve your relationship.
We don't get much training on disagreements, so we often fumble through, get mad, or avoid conflict all together.
We know that speaking honestly is important. We just don't always know how to do it.
So here are 3 helpful resources to help you approach a difficult conversation:
- Listen to my podcast episode, "How to Have a Difficult Conversation" to get talking points and communication strategies. Listen HERE
- Listen to Isabel Wilkerson's interview (Author of Caste) on the "On Being" podcast episode, "We all know in our bones that things are harder than they have to be" where she shares how to examine our painful collective past HERE
- Join my Stay Calm & Speak On Challenge for Women to help you feel more calm and confident when you speak in public. It includes my guide to help you have a difficult conversation and it is on sale for $17 HERE
