Hello ,
Over the past few months, I've been to several small towns. Although I have walked to them, they are easy to get to because each has a train station.
Before I headed off each time, I looked online to find out where the train station was. Sometimes I checked the timetable to see how long it was between trains.
I was headed to a new town a few days ago. This one didn't even have a train station, just a bus station. When I checked the timetable, I found the bus I needed to catch only ran once every two hours.
When I'm walking, I don't have an exact arrival time. I hoped I could be in this town for the 15:30 bus. If not? Oh well - I'd have to wait for the 17:30 one!
On the day, things went well. I stopped for lunch but still had about 10 km to go. It was going to be a challenge to make that 15:30 bus!
I walked at a good speed after lunch (it was mostly downhill π). However, I was going to be a few minutes late π. With the waiting time until the next bus, I could look around the town.
So, I slowed down and checked out the buildings on the way to the bus station.
Umm, ... yeah, .... the bus station.
It wasn't there π³!
I had the map on my device. I was in the right place. No bus station. There wasn't even a bus stop!
What to do?
The shops around me were shut and there wasn't anyone on the street to ask. Plan B was to wander back into the town centre and ask someone, but first, Plan A, I'd have a look around.
I walked off. At first, I couldn't see anywhere that appeared to be a bus stop or station.
Then, in the distance, a bus. No, two buses!
Was that it?
Yes! I had found the bus station and where the bus I needed would stop.
Now I just had to wait the remaining 90 minutes...
I hope you haven't had any experiences where the station/shop/hotel isn't in the place it should be! Or maybe I should have double-checked on a different map...
Have a good week and don't get lost (or lose your destination!),
Andrea
