Hi ,
A couple of years ago, I downloaded maps to go for a walk in the forest near my place. It ended up being a good walk, but what the map said and where I walked were completely different. Thankfully, when I left the trees, I knew where I was.
This time, I wanted to walk from the town where I work (near Seligenstadt) to Dietzenbach. Remembering my last experience, I didn't look at the walking track on the online map; I looked at the one for cyclists.
It was all clear on my tablet. Some of it was through a forest, some was through farmland. I took screenshots of the path and headed off (1).
At first, everything went to plan. The path through the forest lined up (2) with the screenshots I had.
As I walked along, I saw a baby deer close to the path! That was a special moment. It didn't run away; it stood and looked at me. Then a jogger ran past and said 'hello'. The young deer moved away a little bit. I thought about taking a photo, but I was too late. A bigger deer (the mother?) ran past, and the baby deer followed it into the trees.
I came out of the forest and found myself in farmland. That's where things went a bit crazy. The screenshots didn't match what I could see. I followed what I thought was the right path, but something went wrong in a major (3) way.
After a bit of searching, I found my way across a highway and to a train station. That was good - I had to go across a train line. However, it was the wrong train station. It didn't matter; I could see a sign for cyclists pointing to the town I wanted to go to.
So, I continued, walking through more forest and finally into an industrial area. The signs were a bit confusing, so I asked directions from a man walking his dog. Following his instructions, I successfully reached Dietzenbach.
How flexible are you, ? Would you have kept walking, like I did, even when you knew you were in the wrong place? Have you ever been lost? What did you do?
Catch you later,
Andrea
(1) headed off - left, started the journey
(2) lined up - was the same as
