Dear ,
It's winter time and that means snow is a possibility - small flakes that float gently through the air and settle to cover everything with a soft blanket of whiteness.
Sorry, I get excited when it snows. That's probably because where I came from, it wasn't normal to get snow.
The last farm I lived on was on top of a hill, so sometimes we got a few snowflakes, but if it settled, it was really just slush (1). It was really special one night when we got over ten centimetres of lovely, powdery snow and it was still snowing when I went outside to milk the cow the next morning.
The centre of Tasmania gets some snow and on a mountain near the city where I lived there's even a ski resort! However, some years there's only enough for a fight with snow balls. And while I lived there, no snow fell in the city.
In my mind it was going to be amazing living in Europe. I pictured winters with everything blanketed in white.
But that's not what happens - in Frankfurt, anyway!
There's hardly any snow. Some winters none at all. It's rather disappointing ☹️.
People back in Tasmania see stories on the news about large amounts of snow in Europe and ask if things are OK. I have to tell them that yes, things are fine. Snow might be falling in some parts of Europe, but not my part!
It's actually OK that we don't get much snow. I like how it looks when everything is covered in white. And walking through fresh snow is fine.
But I don't like walking on snow that has been pressed into ice by people who have walked on it before me. That's scary! I get worried I'll fall over!!
This year it's started early. The first fall happened before the end of November. It made a pretty start to the Christmas Market, but there wasn't enough to make walking dangerous.
Maybe we'll get a bit more.🤞
What do you think, ? Do you like snow in the city or around where you live? Or is snow only something for the mountains and skiing? I always enjoy hearing what you think ...
Hope you're enjoying the chilly conditions,
Andrea
(1) slush - partly melted or watery snow.
