Hi there ,
I have already mentioned how I do the same things every weekend. Well, last weekend I suddenly had the idea to get on a train and visit a new place - so I did! I didn't spend hours on the internet researching. The only thing I did was check online for what time the trains left.
Saturday I left my flat early. At the Central Train Station the train was already at the platform. I got on and soon we were moving.
I was headed to Limburg. For the first part of the journey, I looked at lists of attractions and studied a town map. After that, I enjoyed the view out the window. It's great travelling when you don't have to drive!
It was a lovely, warm, sunny day. I left the train station and in minutes found myself at the farmers' market right in the town centre. From there, I walked along the narrow streets lined with lovely old half-timbered buildings. They are still used as shops and houses.
At the Tourist Information Centre I picked up a map that had a town tour marked on it. So I did the tour, learning about Limburg as I saw the main sights.
I stopped on the Old Bridge to take a picture of the Cathedral and an older man, clearly a local, told me I could get a photo of the Cathedral and the bridge from down by the river. Thank you ๐.
Afterwards, I admired the Cathedral and sat inside for a few minutes. Then I visited the old castle behind the Cathedral.
When I had completed the tour and walked along most of the streets in the Old Town, I was hungry, so I bought something to eat at the farmers' market.
To finish off, I found a cafe with some lovely cakes. I sat outside and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and a really good piece of Sacher torte before heading back to the train station.
Limburg is beautiful and I had a wonderful day.
Have you visited Limburg? What did you think? (If you haven't, I would recommend it ๐.) Do you have any travel plans in the next couple of months? If you would like to tell me, or recommend other places I should go, hit 'Reply' and let me know.
'Bye for now,
Andrea
