Howdy ,
Many years ago, I bought a raincoat. It wasn't something nice to wear around town. It was from an outdoor shop, a practical (1) coat that would keep me dry in heavy rain in the mountains.
We've done a lot of trips together, both around town and in the wilderness. It has kept me perfectly dry and even protected me from snow.
Near the end of last year, I found that it needed some repairs. It kept me dry on my walk through the Hunsrück, but the inside was beginning to fall apart (2).
So earlier this year, before my walk at Easter time, I took it to a shop so they could repair it. But that's not what happened.
Instead, the young guy took a close look and showed me big problems that he couldn't fix. Unfortunately, I needed to replace it. I was so disappointed to hear those words.
If you don't know me by now, I love both researching things and planning.
A plan began to take shape...
I immediately started looking for a new coat. However, I had organised a walking trip for Easter, so I decided not to purchase until afterwards. I wanted to walk with my old coat one last time.
And that's what I did. I visited the outdoor shops around the city and looked at what was available (3). After researching (talking to shop assistants and looking online), I decided which coat I wanted to buy.
Then, I went on my walk and wore my old coat nearly every day.
When I got back, life became busier than I expected (4). I didn't go straight out and buy the coat.
Last weekend, I checked online - and found it was nearly sold out! One website didn't have it at all. The shop I had found it in didn't have it, but it was still available on their website.
Thankfully it was still available in the size I wanted. I was very relieved and ordered it straight away, before it disappeared completely.
How about you, ? Have you nearly missed out on something you wanted to buy because you waited too long?
Catch you next time,
Andrea
