Hi there,
Do you know one of the things I like most about changing clothes each season? It gives me the opportunity to go through things for the new season and donate the items that I don't wear or don't like anymore. I usually find a couple of pieces of clothing to give away each time and often I add in other things from around my flat, too.
By donating them, I hope that they are going to a new home, to someone who will use them. That feels so much better than simply putting them in the rubbish bin.
We often hear about making donations and it can be tricky. Maybe I'm sceptical, but I can't always be sure how money will be used. Finding time in our busy schedules to volunteer somewhere can be virtually impossible. And even donating blood or plasma (which can literally save a life!) can be problematic because of getting organised to do it. Well, for me, anyhow - I still haven't donated blood or plasma and I've been talking about it for months...
Donating usually gives me a great feeling of satisfaction, of being able to help someone. But I have a selfish reason, too. Getting back to my wardrobe, I like going through my clothes and choosing some items that I will give away because:
- I am able to help other people,
- the items are used again,
- when I get rid of things that I don't need or use any more, the load on my shoulders feels so much lighter!! The difference is amazing!
- AND my place feels a little more organised 😀
It's so easy! I take the bag of unwanted items with me one day as I leave my place and drop them off at the second hand store. Done. No need to make an appointment. No need to schedule a block of time.
What do you think about making donations? Do you agree or disagree with me about the problems around making donations? Hit Reply and let me know what you think about donating, or how you feel when you donate something.
Have a great week!
'Bye,
Andrea
