Howdy ,
If you read through advertisements for flats, sometimes they talk about different parts of the flat being on different levels (1). Often you enter the flat on one level, and some of the rooms are on that floor, but the other rooms are upstairs.
Maybe it's an age thing. My grandmother's sister had a flat like that, with the kitchen and living room downstairs and the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. As a child, I thought it was fun going up and down the stairs. Now, I'm not so sure.
Last year, I stayed in a very nice French place. The kitchen and living area were open for everyone staying in the house to use. But when you booked, you got your own bedroom and bathroom, just like a hotel.
The room I stayed in had a huge bed and a lovely modern bathroom downstairs. But you could go upstairs to a second sleeping area. I think it was just a single bed. To get upstairs, there wasn't a proper staircase (2l; it was more like a ladder. I didn't go up there; it was easier to stay at ground level.
Then there's the place I stayed in recently. A friend had an apartment with two bedrooms on the ground floor. The whole apartment was all on the ground floor - no going up and down stairs at all.
My apartment was different. It was upstairs, on the first floor. Plus, there was a staircase in the apartment going up another floor. That's where the bedrooms were. All of them. What do you think, , were the stairs nice and wide and easy to use? No, they were so narrow they were almost like a ladder!
I slept upstairs - I had to. But I left all my things downstairs.
Would I live in a place with upstairs and downstairs? Probably, but it would depend on the stairs and also what rooms were on each level. I think it would be important to have a toilet on all levels!
Would you live in a flat or house that has two or more floors, ? Does the placd you live in now have stairs? If so, do you like the stairs?
Catch you later,
Andrea
