I'm fairly risk averse & work hard to wear gear that protects & doesn't suffocate, BUT don't ride without a freaking helmet! Seriously. I get it all the pushback. ➡️ They're too hot. ➡️ They're too confining. ➡️ It's too loud. I hear the concerns. Each concern has a solution like the loud part. Do you ever surprise yourself? Like, you step back for a minute and say, "Damn, I did THAT??" 😲⁠ ⁠ When I first decided to look into riding, I was fumbling around a bit. ⁠ ⁠ I researched all the things just to avoid actually doing the ONE thing that would lead me to ride. My state required a safety course, plus I already decided that the course would be the yes/no decision for if I’d actually go forward with buying a scooter.⁠ ⁠ Fast forward, and I simply took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider safety course. That’s it. It cost money. I’d have to wake up early & give up a weekend (or take time off of work). I had a bajillion reasons I used as excuses. ⁠ ⁠ 🥾That boots image is the only photo I have of the day. They require ankle coverage for the class, and I live in Texas, y’all.⁠ ⁠ Fast forward & I swear I wish I had known exactly what I was getting into. Because I really didn’t want to be surprised. I caught myself looking down towards the road yesterday in a turn. 👎 Like I don't know better.... 😑 This is silly for 2 reasons off the top of my head: 1️⃣ Where your eyes look, your scooter will go (or bike or motorcycle - whatever) 2️⃣ You should be scanning with your 'head on a swivel', and your swivel isn't as effective looking down! Would love to hear what you catch yourself doing from time to time if you care to share. Or just ring the 'Shame. Shame. Shame.' bell at me all Game of Thrones style.
