🛵 My Riding Routine
Sep 10, 2022 2:01 pm
Hey there, scooter pal!
Sometimes I really don’t wanna wear my gear.
Other times I don’t want to check my oil.
I find that when either of these ideas creep into my head I have too much friction in doing the thing - whether it’s maintenance or something else.
On Sundays I have a routine. If it’s something I just do on Sundays that helps reduce the friction of saying tomorrow. I do it on Sundays, afterall. Monday isn’t Sunday. I won’t do it on Monday. So just do it.
Do you have this banter in your head, too?
That's one of the newbie mistakes I talked about in this video.
- Wash the scooter - to varying degrees. Sometimes I’ll do a wipe down. Others a full spa day for the scooter
- Check the fluids
- Check the tire pressure
- Clean my face shield of my helmet
I also like having a landing spot for all the gear I’m wearing for the season. I moved semi-recently, so I am working on corralling things for a central location. Right now my gear is all over the place.
🧥 My jacket is on the chest at the end of my bed.
🧤 Both pairs of gloves are in a kitchen cabinet - don’t ask.
🥾 My boots are in my closet.
🪖 My helmet is who knows where. I’m hoping it's on a shelf in the garage.
Does this sound easy to go for a ride? It isn’t. When I live all willy-nilly I feel like just hopping in the car on a perfectly good riding day.
I’ll work on reducing my gear friction, but is there anything you do to make your ride easier & more enjoyable? Would love to hear - reply or tag me Instagram.
Have an awesome week!
Be seen & be safe, scooter friend! ♥
Take care,
~Renee (aka Scooter Newbie)
