Making shit you like is fun and easy.
You don't have to push yourself all the time to do it.
You don't have to feel guilty for not putting out more content.
When you make shit you like, you delight when your audience gets your joke. But you don't need their approval to know that it's funny.
When you make shit you like, 2 likes are plenty. When it's a chore, 150 is not enough.
That's not to say that everything's easy and you perpetually walk around with butterflies in your stomach counting rainbow unicorns.
But it does mean that when you hit a rough spot it's easy to remember why you started in the first place.
When you make shit you like, you're not waiting constantly for things to take off. You lose track of time and allow the grind to do its' work.

We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis Taylor - A friend recommended this one to me and despite my claims that it would be weeks before I would get to it, one night's sleeplessness led to reading the first thing available on my kindle. This is a lot of fun to read, fast paced, witty and thought provoking (at least some of the time). What happens to a man when he wakes up after death to discover he has become a computer simulation being trained to fly a spaceship.
In the Toolbox
I wish this existed. Something that would allow me to switch between tabs on my browser using a short cut, think Command-Tab. It would make copying information from one place to the other so much easier.
