So Which One Is Right?

image

Hi ,

So which do you think is right?

2 + 2 = 4 or does 3 + 1 = 4?

Both come to the same result. Which do you prefer to use? It poses the interesting question of which one is right? Here's a conumdrum for today:

If you listen to a book, is it really reading it? Just because the majority of us do it one way, does that necessarily devalue any other method? I love to listen to audiobooks. Because I'm an over-achiever, it helps me to do two things at once.

But there are those out there, and I know that you're not one of them, but some are of the opinion that if your eyes don't pass over a page then you haven't really read it. How else would a deaf person read a book? Or conversley, if a writer has no hands (amputated from a serious moutaineering accident in this example) and he has to resort to dictation, then did he really write the material?

If the intent of the author is for the reader to enjoy the text, then how much does it matter how they travel the journey?

For me, an excellent narrator can emphasize a certain passage, perform accents, and never loses enthusiasm. Unlike me who drifts off when I'm too tired, re-reads the same sentence three times after multiple distractions, and sometimes too scared to touch the pages of a special first edition unless wearing gloves.

What's your favourite listen? Or is this an unknown for you? Minefield?
