Hi ,
I want to ask you something. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I was in conversation the other day with a friend who posed an interesting question that's rather similar. Which came first, TV that inspired technology, or technology that inspired TV?
We've seen so many great influences in our world that come from both. Star Trek's flip phone, multiple uses of video conferencing, and space flight. One of the early pioneers I can think of who's from the literary world is Jules Verne. His scientific mind gave us adventures filled with giant balloons, high-tech submersibles and journeys to the moon.
All these great stories we've been given over time has spurred our imagination to realizing what we once thought to be impossible. Who knows where it'll take us next?
Which leads me back to the opening question. Which came first, visionaries who inspired engineers, or engineers who inspired visionaries? I come down a litte in both camps (cop-out, I know). I think both have great imaginations, great visions, but use different tools to make it happen.
Here's to another great year of break-out pioneers of imagination who can further our growing ambition of the future!
So let me know. What gizmo or do-dad from fiction would you like to see a reality next? I'm going to vote for cryogenic storage. I'd love to hear yours.
Check out these works by other pioneers of the imagination to see what they've come up with -
Until next time, have a great read!
