How many stressful things have you gone through?
The "experts" say there's seven most stressful things to happen in your life. I think I want to add a few to that list, and pandemics should take up two slots!
Moving house has got to be up there. If you read a book about my life you'd think I'd been cast in a soap opera. The hand of fate moves, the wheel of time, the turning of Ka (insert favorite fictional facsimile here), and that's led to me having to move house a grand total of 22 times!
Whoa man!
I like to sit down and dream about the perfect place to live, and I don't shy away from any indulgences (If you know of a 10 bedroom mansion with a pool on the market, let me know). But it doesn't stop there. My mind has gone to so many places that if they were all real, it would take a lifetime to see them all.
Mordor, Narnia, Discworld, Roshar, the Tower. The list is endless. And their pretty counterparts. And those are just from the fantasy realm. What about our old friend sci-fi? All the star wars/trek planets. Dune. The Expanse. I've got to stop there. And if you're like me, you love home comforts.
My hometown is somewhere I always love to come back to after my day of adventuring. And for me, an adventure can be a trip into a big city. Which brings us nicely into this week's promotion. I've come together with a bunch of other adventuring dreamers to bring you a selection of free books and stories set in cities glowing with neon.
Inside are half-a-dozen books set in sci-fi cities full of weird and wonderful people (if you weren't expecting that, what are you doing reading sci-fi?) And there's no rush, these great freebies will be available through June 7th!
But I'm being greedy. Six slots, and I'm one of them. How's that fair? So let me point you to the fantastic H.W.Taylor and his Kill Ship.
So now it's a level playing field. I'll leave this for you to look at in your own time. Whatever you're doing and wherever you are, have fun diving into a new world and new adventure.
I hope that you've got deeper roots than I and don't feel the hand fate so much. You can reply to this email or find me on Facebook to tell me which is your favorite fictional world. An activity that can take a whole day itself, I know!
Take care and have a great read!
