Well goodness, I can't believe how much time has slipped by since the last newsletter! Even though I'm not seeing friends, going to WI or u3a, I don't seem to have any extra time at all and the days slip by, one after the other, at great speed and my To Do list never seems to quite disappear
A little procedure
One of the things I've been up to since last time is a procedure I have every 5 years. There is a great deal of bowel cancer in my family, so I am monitored at regular intervals. For me, this means a colonoscopy every 5 years.
If you don't know what that means, it involves a very small camera examining a cleaned colon. I have to have a no fibre diet for a couple of days. This means no fruit or vegetables, and by the end of it, I'm desperate for something crispy and green! Then a day basically spent in the bathroom after taking a medication that cleans out the colon. Then the procedure. Lots of waiting around in a hospital.
It was all very organised and efficient. Glad to report that nothing was found and if nothing is found the next time either, I probably won't be called for any more, as I'll be 75. I'm assuming that if anything did develop after that point, it takes 15-20 years, I'll be ancient enough that it will be immaterial!
Price rises and shortages
It's possible we may experience price rises and shortages in the New Year. If that is a worry for you, do please visit the Facebook Group where we can help each other. No food stuff is compulsory, so if we have, for instance, pasta shortages, as we well might as panic buying might resurface, come and talk and the members will be able to come up with all sort of ideas for stuff that you CAN get. No-one is going to starve, although it's quite possible we may have to adjust our meals a little. There are many clever people that can seemingly magic meals from nothing.
A Complete Christmas Week for not many £££'s
If you are on a tight budget, Christmas food can be very difficult, causing stress, and maybe even debt too. If you haven't yet decided what you are going to do, you might find this meal plan helpful. It is for the whole of Christmas week, with lots of nice things to eat, without spending a fortune. It doesn't matter a bit if you haven't bought every known seasonal delicacy, most people just want to spend a bit of quality time with the people they love
Happily, you can enjoy a delicious festive meal, indeed, an entire week, without spending a fortune.
A Christmas Card

It's not long until Christmas now. Many family traditions will not be enacted this year as we need to stay apart to stay safe. One of the lovely things we do is I send the Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar to my grand daughter, who loves all the little games and activities built into it.
I hope you have as good a time as you would wish, that your table is laden and your fires burn bright. Next time we meet, I'll be talking about leftovers - goodness!

Not many new posts this time, although I have lots of ideas and a HUGE list of recipes to write up!
With all best wishes, until next time
