The Eastbourne Airbourne
We enjoyed a great day at the Eastbourne Airborne again this year.
We love the Red Arrows who were as as amazing as they always are
And our favourite is the Typhoon. SUCH an amazing roar of sound - truly spine tingling and AWESOME!
There were no food stalls this year. Or rather there were stalls of stuff we didn't;t want. We were looking forward to something Thai, Indian, Chinese, Paella, etc etc. There lots of burgers, cakes, candy floss, fudge, biscuits and that kind of thing
So we awaited until a quiet part of the show and took ourselves off for a pizza.
Parked up by the swimming pool, walked in, around and then back - over 14,000 steps that day!
le Marche
The u3a that I'm in is going to le Marche on Bank Holiday Monday
This is a completely free all day Anglo French market, with music and entertainment all day long. The weather is set fair and it should be a great day. If you don't want to, there is no need to spend any money at all.
le marche is the u3a's main recruitment event. All week long I have been printing out leaflets about our Groups, and a beautiful general leaflet about our u3a. Plus folding and cutting everything. Two carrier bags, stuffed full. My poor printer!
Leaks, and not of the edible variety
In the recent storms, we had a water leak come through the kitchen ceiling. My husband took the wet part down and has allowed it to dry out. He's currently trying to even up the edges so he can put a new bit of plasterboard up there.
What a mess!
That ceiling needed a bit of repair anyway after our renovations. Good job the leak happened before we had had it repaired!
What I've been making in previous Augusts
Sage, Lemon & Pumpkin Seed Pesto
Sage from the garden, lemon, raisins, pumpkin seeds, parmesan and olive oil. All liquidised together to make a gorgeous pesto that can be used in all the usual ways, and is firm enough for a sandwich filler too.
Leftover Bread
Bread is the number 1 most wasted food item. A truly astonishing 148 loaves being thrown away every HOUR!
This post explores how to stop it going stale, what to do with any leftover bread, how to make breadcrumbs and what to do with them.
Jacket Potato Fillings
Do you always have beans, tuna or cheesy beans on your jacket potatoes? Would you like some ideas on what else to stuff them with?
This post has LOADS of great ideas!
An e-book or two
I published an ebook for meal plan 1 in August 2021 and am delighted that many people have thought it was worth getting. I've repriced it again in June 2022 and it's still holding on, even in these scary times.
I've managed to get my head around WooCommerce so I can feature it on the blog and you can find it here.
I was busy recooking, photographing and updating the recipes for Meal Plan 2 and putting them into an ebook as well. The meal plan was first written in 2013 and still prices up, which is fabulous and that is finally complete.
Do come and say hello on the Fantastically Frugal Food Facebook group, or the Sensational Slimming Sustenance group. I'd love to see you. Lots of useful tips, recipes and ideas. The over 17,000 membership are brilliant, brimming with talent.
And don't forget Thrifty Lesley, where there are 800+ recipes of fantastically frugal food and many weekly meal plans. And Cheap Family Recipes where you can find all kinds of delicious things that don't cost much, with two family monthly meal plans.
I've also got a few YouTube videos up, not many yet, but I'm planning to do more. I've done a couple more, need to edit them now. So much to do, so little time!
With all best wishes, until next time
