Hi friends!!
I'm sneaking in my May newsletter with a day to spare - where has this month gone?? Life has been a flurry of end of the school year activities for my kiddos, plus a beautiful long weekend with my extended family. And now gearing up for summer already!
Speaking of summer, I'm working with my new publisher (Monster Ivy Publishing, in case you missed the announcement!) for the re-release of Common on July 9th! I can't wait!! I'm thrilled to share that my story gets to keep its gorgeous cover! As much as I love a good cover reveal, in this case I couldn't be happier the cover is staying the same - ever since I saw the first draft of Common's cover years ago, that lovely redhead is exactly how I picture Leah :) But we have a new blurb (see below), with a reference to Ever After that makes me so happy! And if you haven't read Common yet and like to leave reviews / share about books on social media, applications to receive advance copies are now open! (If you have read it but have a reader friend who you think would love it, feel free to pass on the application link!)
And I have *more* exciting summer news! The Clean Fairytales Facebook group is hosting A Fairytale Summer - two months of clean fairytales, author visits, games, and prizes! I'll be posting there on occasion and hosting an author takeover on July 9th to celebrate Common's release :) The fun is about to start on June 1st, so stop over to check it out!
My last bit of writing news is that beta reader feedback is in for A Noble Purpose! It's both thrilling and nerve-wracking to hear from readers about a new story, hoping they'll love it but worried they'll hate it. What can I say, an author's life (at least mine!) is full of extremes :) But I'm so happy to report that the response was very positive! I have some editing work to do, of course, to fill in some details and fix a few inconsistencies, but on the whole Princess Liesel, her guard Sir Albrecht, and the clumsy Sir Jonas who they set out to find are making readers grin just as I hoped they would. I can't wait to share this story with you in October - be on the lookout for the cover reveal next month!
I'll get back to word count updates once I dive back into Project Dragon, hopefully by the end of June! In the meantime, I'd love to hear about what you're reading! Have a wonderful rest of May / June - I look forward to hanging out with you at A Fairytale Summer if you're able to participate :)
Book Spotlights
Half of the books in the Hope Ever After series have released already! I've had the opportunity to read two so far, and they're absolutely lovely stories. An Enduring Hope by Jes Drew is a retelling of The Wild Swans and just came out earlier this month! Isn't that cover gorgeous?!?
Speaking of stunning covers, this one caught my eye right away! The Swan Bride by Jacque Stevens is the first book in her Borderland Brides Fairytale Retellings series and is available for preorder!
A royal Selection Ball. A doomed romance. He’s not exactly a prince, but then, she’s not entirely human . . .
Marian and the Elf is another new May release, Book Two in the Elves & Legends series by Annabelle Raven! A Robin Hood reimagining involving elves? Yes, please!
Marian is supposed to un-alive the elf king. Robin is supposed to abduct her. Trusting each other would mean betraying their people. Trusting their people might be worse.
Have you read the Between Shade and Flame series by Everly Haywood yet? I absolutely loved the first book, Peaceweaver! Swoony (but clean!) romance, complex characters, and a cool magic system - I'm looking forward to reading more!
