April showers bring May flowers and stories blossom into beauty

Friends,

I'll admit since the release of "Falling for the Devil" back in January 2023 I've been in a bit of a funk. I've been insanely busy but sad to say not busy writing. Busy with life in general, my family, and igniting the flame on my book editing business (more on that later), but not writing. In a way, I feel as if I've let you all down...as well as myself and my characters.

It started when I did write a good chunk of a sequel novel for Renegade Angel (that was included in the USA Today Bestselling boxset, "Realm of Darkness" while waiting for hours to watch my daughter swim at a swim meet. I was thrilled with my progress and the development of the story then... the iPad I was using to write the story failed to SAVE anything from that day. All those words gone! Yes, I tried everything to recover them, but even the techniest of the tech people in my life, and the Apple support team, shrugged in the end. The words weren't even floating around on the iCloud (where I had assumed it would be waiting for me).

But in the end, that's just an excuse. I didn't sit down and rewrite it while it should've been fresh in my head because I was allowing myself to wallow in my despair. Even today, that story has not peaked my interest enough to continue writing it. So Jasper, the sexy guardian angel with a body for sin, has been shelved. It was a tough call, but to save my sanity, I had to focus on the stories that were beckoning to me. And there's a ton of them!

After sorting through the different plot points, story lines, characters, and all the distracting options, I have decided to focus on a story very near and dear to my heart. I can't let too much out of the bag, but I will say that it is paranormal women's fiction and I can identify with the protagonist more closely than any other character I have ever written.

Here's a smidgen of a hint in a meme:

There's a ton of other stories bopping around in my noggin, but this is the one calling to me the loudest. Doesn't help that I started this one couple years ago, had a beta reader really loving it, then...I left a poor character up on the wall (literally in the story at least). That poor beta reader has been hounding me for two years to get that poor woman off the wall. I'm happy to report, as of now, she is indeed off the wall but with the way this story is going, she may prefer to have stayed where she was.

So that's what May and the rest of the summer is bringing me, along with all kids home from college, one graduating and looking for a job, two working and heading back to college in the fall, one graduating high school and prepping for college in another state, and the baby already dealing with senioritis when she has a year yet before she graduates. So fingers crossed, send all your good energy and positive vibes so I can find time to write over the next few months and get the above story out to you this fall. Maybe then, Jasper can get back to his sexy shenanigans and I can get both books in his story out to you by end of the year. I wish I could write like a whirlwind and pop out stories every three months or less like some, but it's not in my DNA to do so.

Anyway, happy Beltane! Happy reading!
