I've been obsessed for well over a year now with the magical midlife paranormal women's fiction trope. May have something to do with I can relate to the characters in a deep level, much deeper than just a few years prior.

There are so many amazing authors and book series in this genre that I could read every day, all day, for a year and still not finish them all--even if they are all ON my kindle waiting for me.

One book series really struck me in the feels. The "Glimmer Lake" trilogy by Elizabeth Hunter with "Suddenly Psychic," "Semi-Psychic Life," and "Psychic Dreams."

I could relate so strongly to the main character in the first book in the series, "Suddenly Psychic", that I would be in tears and giggles (sometimes at the same time). I even messaged the author to express that. Two lines from the first few pages sealed it:

"Is this the rest of my life?

Really? This? Every day until I die?"

Not only could I relate to the character... while reading I was the character! How she related to her husband and her kids! I longed for such a tight friendship as the three main characters (Robin, Val, and Monica) so much it physically hurt.

And all midlife struggles (minus the magical part) were so similar to everything I'd write into my daily journal.

Now, please understand, this is not a book series about whining midlife moms. No one would read that.

This series tells the exciting, spooky, sometimes shocking, sometimes scary stories of three amazing women with their friendship front and center of each story.

There's romance, too. Plenty of romance even with the married couple (Robin and Mark). And more romance in store for the divorced Val and even for the widowed Monica.

Fun and spooky psychic shenanigans, midlife humor, swoon-worthy romance, harrowing adventures, and true friendship. What more could you ask for? I can't think of anything.
