Ladies & Gentlemen, REV your engines!

May 2025 was busy, busy, busy! The only sad part about it being so busy was I wasn't busy writing. I did crank out a handful of chapters in my latest WIP (a military romance - my first foray into the non-paranormal realm), but to say writing was put on a backburner is an understatement. June may open up more time for writing (and polishing my paranormal women's fiction/magical midlife book for release in the fall). However, I regret nothing because May was a thrill ride!
The month started off with my youngest son competing in his first ever Spartan challenge but the race had just begun...
Hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in May with a bit peculiar anniversary trip. Our destination?
Detroit.
Why Detroit, you may ask. Our friends certainly asked. Why not a tropical island or the long-awaited Ireland trip I've always wanted?
Remember the son mentioned above? Well, he doesn't just run Spartan races and train for Iron Man triathlons. He and his college teammates also build and race their very own Formula One car.
The Crimson Racing Team took their car (the CR25) to the Michigan International Speedway to compete in the Formula One SAE (the Society of Automotive Engineers) with 148 other universities across the nation (plus Mexico, Canada, and even a team from Spain) in the middle of May.
Hubby and I tagged along (with a few other parents) to provide support with meals and cheers!
We drove to Michigan from North Carolina and I'm still surprised we stayed in the Eastern Standard Time zone. We drove through one place I've always wanted to visit - Point Pleasant, West Virginia. However, I did--in fact--NOT see Mothman.
The team did an amazing job and took 8th place overall, 7th place in design, and took home the 1st place trophy for the Cummins' Sustainable Power and Performance Award.
It was an amazing time with some incredibly intelligent and sweet college students who worked so hard all year and put their everything into the CR25. Great team! And that car is sooooooooo fast! Watching all the cars compete had my heart racing.
Citizens of Michigan, question for you--what is up with your weather? I live in NC and think our weather is cray-cray, but I pass the torch to Michigan. Cool, sunny weather turned to scary-@$$ storms every night. We wore shorts and t-shirts all week, but the last day everyone was shivering in winter coats and rain gear.
May was an insane month. It went by FAST (pun intended).
Welcome to summer, my friends! May your summer be a thrill ride. Mine certainly started that way.
