Let's meet the suburban psychic, Abby McBride

Sep 19, 2025 7:31 pm

In just a few days (9/23/2025), Abby McBride's supernatural shenanigans will be available for the world to read. Her story will make you laugh, give you chills, and even bring tears to your eyes. It's a tale of a forty-something stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) who desperately hid her psychic gifts since a traumatic childhood in order to appear to be "normal," to be accepted and not ridiculed or ostracized from family and friends; and how one fateful Halloween night changed her entire world. Because the spirits do not like being ignored. When push comes to shove, they'll do what they must to force your attention.

INTERVIEWER: Hi, Abby. Thanks for joining us today. It's been a crazy week or so for you since Halloween.

ABBY: Crazy isn't quite sufficient to describe it, but yes. I was comfortable in my life ~ meal prep, car pool to school and sports practices, mountains of laundry, and dealing with a few hot flashes and increasing brain fog. Then...Halloween! (groaning)

INTERVIEWER: Can you tell us what happened at the haunted house that night?

ABBY: I could, but I'm pretty sure the owner's of the so-called haunted house would like to keep things under wraps. You know... can't have the entire neighborhood or town finding out. The family has their reputation to protect. They are insistent that they not become the laughing stock of Magnolia Lane.

INTERVIEWER: Yes, we can certainly understand that. But can you tell us how you became involved in this supernatural mess?

ABBY: Well, the ghosts finally had enough of me ignoring them every time I came into the house so they decided to put on a spectacular show on Halloween to force me to pay them attention. It was a dirty trick! My husband was quite surprised, to say the very least.

INTERVIEWER: So your husband didn't know you are a psychic?

ABBY: Oh, heavens no! He only believes what he can see with his own two eyes. He absolutely takes no stock of anything "woo-woo." One reason I felt it best to keep ignoring the ghosts so no one would ever have to find out.

INTERVIEWER: That's sad. How is he taking it now?

ABBY: (rolls eyes) Don't ask.

INTERVIEWER: Okay, then. Can you tell us why you hid your psychic gifts for so long? When did you first know you were psychic?

ABBY: I could see/hear/sense spirits since I was a small child. But when I told my mom I was having a tea party with my great-aunt (who had recently passed away), well... she blew up, yelled at me, and decided I had to be hidden from the world "until I got my head back on right." Since then, I found it's best to not go public, stay in hiding always. And I would have gladly stayed in hiding if not for those pesky ghosts.

INTERVIEWER: Well, Abby, thank you for your time. Folks, we'll continue the interview with our very own suburban psychic next time. Stay tuned!
