Exploration of Self-Motivation (Synthesis Essay)

image

For whatever the reason, engagement has gone out the window for many a student.

If you're anything like me, this has become my number one battle - getting kids to buy in and not willfully self-sabotage their futures.

But instead of soap-boxing at the start of next academic year, I created a synthesis unit that centers upon the following essential question: to what extent do your current levels of motivation align with your future goals?

Most teenagers lack foresight ... hence the disconnect and lack of urgency.

Yet, this assignment serves as a wake up call.

In today's writing workshop, I spotlight how to construct the essay from start to finish all while pulling the strings of my LEGO Man Template.

Especially for the first essay of the year, this template works perfectly in terms of demystifying how to cobble together a synthesis unit.

The source packet, survey, and slides are located in the description of the video.
