After I finished my first textbook detailing my writing methods and templates, my alma mater asked if I would be interested in leading a week long seminar for their MAT candidates whereby I’d teach these aspiring teachers everything I know about the teaching of writing.
It was an amazing experience in that I could see the proverbial lightbulbs illumine above their heads.
Throughout their practicums, they had not yet received any direct instruction on how to teach writing in the classroom.
Of the small group of sixteen, one of the candidates had already landed a teaching gig for the upcoming fall term.
She approached me with a shy trepidation and asked if I’d be willing to be her 1:1 instructional coach for 90 days.
And this illumined my lightbulb – why not offer this in addition to my Masterclass?
So, I worked with Tammi for 90 days and got her as prepared as possible for the rigors and demands of first-year teaching.
