I wanted to do a bit of investigative research before I launch my new program – Teach It “Write Symposium – so I contacted every AP teacher that took my Masterclass this previous academic year.
There were 73 Language teachers; 129 Lit.
I was curious to know how our collective qualification rates were given that our students used my templates for each FRQ for both of the exams.
Most teachers in the nation took one on the chin, but my students faired quite well – so I wanted to see how the teachers I worked with did.
Of the 66 Langers who responded, we came in at 81% qualification.
Of the 113 Lit. teachers, we collectively scored 83%.
And in touching base with all of them, something stood out – they all agree that my templates made a difference.
Three simple templates can be used across each of the expository modes every single time a student sits down to craft an essay.
The art of composing is demystified and the scaffolds yield a clear line of reasoning with a nice flair for nuance and alacrity.
And this is what the Teach It “Write” Symposium will do … create a classroom of writers that grow and mature right before your eyes.
AP teacher or not, your students will absolutely take off in their writing once they grab ahold of my templates.
All too often when teachers assign an essay, their students look at the task as if they’ve never written an essay before in their lives. It’s as if it’s the first essay created by the cosmos and they’re helpless and have no idea how to begin or proceed.
If that scenario has grown old for you, then the Teach It “Write” Symposium is perfect for you.
