The reality of our classroom existences going forward are predicated upon three facts:
- We must find a way to close an ever increasing skill gap
- Students are imploring us to make our content more engaging
- And we must begin to meet the SEL needs of all of our learners
Me being me ... I attempted to achieve all of these things in one fell swoop.
In brief, I gathered a ton of possible source material covering a wide array of SEL topics - everything from emotion wheels to EQ tests; breaking cycles of negative self-talk to self-soothing techniques ...
And what do our students need to do?
They need to write a letter to Oscar the Grouch to help him reframe his worldview while incorporating at least three of the resources.
In today's writing workshop video, per usual, I "Bob Ross" my way through a ton of exemplars and models so that you and your students will clearly know and understand how to execute and pull the strings of my templates.
The source packet is mammoth, so pick and choose what works best for you and your students.
I also want to put in a final plug for my Teach It "Write" 5-Week Mastermind that begins on August 9th.
As I announced the other day, I am teaming up with the National Writing Project for this endeavor.
We'd love to have you join us for what will be one heck of a professional development opportunity.
Reach out if you'd like any of the resources featured in the video, or for more information about the Mastermind
Happy teaching and happy writing!
