Believe it or not … there is a direct correlation between getting our students to sustain a clear line of reasoning … and the little old lady who swallowed a fly.
Simply put … good writing equals good thinking.
And this is exactly what my templates strive to do – help our students capture all of their brilliant ideas on paper with a clear logical progression.
Many of you are familiar with the template I equip my students with when they construct their body paragraphs – the syllogistic method – which is rooted in the Aristotelian tradition.
The sheer mention of such verbiage can be intimidating for some learners …
So, to illustrate how simple it actually is – I “Bob Ross” my way through an analysis of Mary Oliver’s poem “The Black Snake.”
In today’s video, I link the proverbial fly to the spider, and the cat to the bird, to clearly delineate for teachers and students how easy it is to stay cogent in an analysis.
As always, I'm more than willing to share any of the resources in the video - just drop me a line.
And to follow up on my last message ... thanks for the kudos!
I'm beyond stoked to be working with The National Writing Project going forward.
Just to reiterate, my Teach It "Write" 5-Week Mastermind will now be hosted by NWP.
Our next session is set to launch the evening of August 9th!
Happy teaching and happy writing!
