Greetings from the road my fellow ELA colleagues!!
I am luxuriating in the bliss of what some call February Recess.
This past week, I traveled to Fishers, Indiana to train a wonderful English department on how to become veritable Bob Ross's of Composition - and low and behold ... I actually got a moment to spend the day in Muncie, Indiana touring Bob's old stomping grounds.
For a man like myself, that 's a Mecca to Medina type pilgrimage of mega significance 😀.
As summer is just around the corner, please keep me in mind if you'd like for me to trek to your part of the world to offer PD. I'm making my schedule as of now and booking up quickly.
When I head back to the classroom on Monday, my AP Lang. crew is going to revisit argumentation.
In the same vein as our most recent FRQ3 prompts, we're going to tussle with the following line from Eminem: "If you have enemies, good ... that means you stood up for something."
Clearly, the prompt is rife with possibility.
Per usual, in the writing workshop video, I walk you and your students through the process of writing the entire essay from start to finish.
I "paint" a number of intros and bodies in my typical Bob Ross fashion so that the process of constructing the essay is 100% demystified.
And on my docket, I have a few seeds that I'll drop.
On the evening of March 7th, the National Writing Project and I will be offering a free webinar entitled "10 Steps to Cultivate Student Voice in Writing"
As the date approaches, I'll send out more information as well as Zoom links.
And by popular request, on March 11th beginning at 11 a.m. EST, I will be offering yet again my Alternative Grading Methods 2-Hour Intensive.
So, if you'd like to kick the traditional grading paradigm to the curb so that you can free up your evenings and weekends, I encourage you to join myself and NWP to learn 25+ alternatives to traditional grading that will totally transform how you approach the endless heap of essays that always "need" to be graded.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
