In a hypothetical world, imagine this --- what if we were to hire David Sedaris to ghostwrite a college personal statement?
This is the scenario I have in today's video lesson.
Borrowing from his CBS Sunday Morning monologue entitled "On Irritating Word Choice," we'll use his narrative frame to house a real banger of a college personal statement.
Students, from this lesson, can then in turn use this narrative technique as a scaffold to house their statement.
Like a scrimmage before a big match, this exercise provides the requisite narrative practice necessary to break away from academic writing to embrace some of the theory and technique of storytelling.
