I am happy to announce that I will be hosting a FREE webinar that will showcase my alternative grading methods on April 26th at 7:30 pm EST with Perfection Learning.
Quite literally – bring a heaping stack of papers to the webinar.
We’ll have them done within the hour.
Ever since the one-room schoolhouse, we have stubbornly adhered to a traditional grading paradigm that is not only ineffective in helping our students to grow and mature as writers, but it’s a system that has robbed far too many of us of our evenings and weekends.
There’s a better way!!

As I’ve reported over the past couple of weeks, we have a few exciting irons in the proverbial fire.
Timm Freitas, Brandon Abdon, and I will be presenting at this coming fall’s NCTE conference.
Timm and I are cobbling together a textbook that will feature both of our writing templates. In brief, we’re grappling with the idea that there are several ways to skin the compositional fish.
In putting together my portion of the textbook, I felt it necessary to get a healthy amount of anecdotal information from teachers who were implementing my methods in their classroom.
To make this happen, I created a course hailing by the name of the Teach It “Write” 5-Week Mastermind.
In a nutshell, I’m working with a handful of teachers willing and eager to reframe their approach to the teaching of composition. We meet live in Zoom for five consecutive weeks for an hour a session, typically Thursday evening at 8 EST. During our time together, teachers are thoroughly trained so that they can equip their students with my templates; but we also take a deep dive into my alternative grading methods, Plato’s Play-Doh Discussion Modality, and Nuance Academies (all that voice, rhythm, flow "stuff" you see my students do).
I have been asked by several teachers to launch another session, so why not?
Enrollment is now open for a May 12th start date.
