Ozymandias (Gamified Discussion + Writing Workshop)

image

Today's video lesson sets teachers up to do two things:

  1. Host a Plato's Play-Doh Discussion (Say what ...???). This modality takes a gamified approach of what I deem to be the best elements of the Fishbowl, Harkness, and Socratic model. Through the elements of collaboration and competition, not only do students learn a ton, but they actually engage.
  2. If at this stage of the year your students are still struggling with their writing, I've recorded a writing workshop that illustrates from start to finish how to write a literary analysis paper all while pulling the strings of my heuristics. The samples actually come from my NWP students, so they're solid.

If you want access to the discussion questions and writing workshop slides, look in the video's description for the download link.
