Last night’s webinar went amazingly well!
Who’d a thought that over 100 people would ever care to listen to me bloviate about composition and my templates 😉
That’s like the manna falling from the heavens when a teacher’s best practices go recognized. It’s truly a good life feeling to know that I am making a difference, not just in my classroom, but in the lives of my colleagues all over the world.
At the end of the hour last night, I stayed on to field an extended Q&A.
The last folks on the Zoom call were an English department from Chicago, including their director.
They asked me about my Masterclass, my alternative grading methods, and my textbook as well as my general philosophy on how composition is taught currently and the direction I think it’s heading in the coming next few years.
In brief, the four of them want me to offer a Masterclass running from July 12th – 16th (11 a.m EST - noon daily) and they’d love to work with other teachers across the country in order to create a community of learners that are willing to collaborate and share ideas.
I’m totally game to do it! Apart from paddle boarding and a few mini-staycations, I’m just trying to recharge my batteries before the fall rolls around with a new academic year.
To settle upon the cost of the class, we had a Socratic Seminar whereby we discussed this: who has the better pizza – Chicago or New York (where I am from).
It was four against one … so I clearly lost (but I really didn’t).
The Masterclass for this session will be discounted until July 7th for those that sign up early.
I have to limit numbers so that I can offer enough 1:1 time, so I’m assuming that the enrollment doors will close quickly on this one.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a discovery call, feel free to reach out. You can also browse my webpage at www.teachinghow2write.com.
I’m thinking that this has the potential to be an awesome session!
For now, happy teaching and happy writing!
Kristian
