Whack-A-Mole "To Be" Verb Exercise

image

Time to put the kibosh on pesky “to be” verbs.

You know the crew: am, is, are, was, were, be, been, being. They sneak into every essay like carnival moles, popping their heads up line after line until the writing drags instead of dances.

In this Whack-A-Mole exercise, students smack down each to be verb and swap in stronger, livelier verbs that actually make their sentences move. It’s quick, it’s fun, and it’s way more satisfying than another worksheet.
