A great paradox of life is that not knowing is true knowledge.
Early in my career, I could look at an essay and say …
Something is lacking here … needs more textual support and textual analysis.
OR … holy cow … this essay has over a billion comma splices.
AND EVEN … these quote transitions are super abrupt.
FURTHER … this introduction is 14-sentences long … but where’s the thesis?
I knew, but I didn’t know.
I knew what was amiss, but I did not have any tools in my kit to help my students grow and mature as writers.
And what crushed my heart is that these were AP kids who were giving me their blood, sweat, and tears on every essay they eked out.
I could readily see what was lacking or how things went awry, but I had nothing concrete above and beyond my margin comments to propel my students forward.
And then one day it occurred to me …
Tweak Aristotle’s syllogistic method and make it into a writing template.
Ever since that day, my AP students have skyrocketed in their writing abilities.
All students, even our best writers, need scaffolds and templates to advance them forward.
On Saturday September 11th at 11 a.m. EST, I am offering a two-hour intensive whereby I’ll teach AP teachers how to equip their students with my three groundbreaking templates.
Not only will you become a far more adept writing instructor, but you’re going to witness a ton of growth in your student writers once you begin to employ these strategies in your classroom.
And as I mentioned in my previous message, I would like to couple this session with my Self-Paced Masterclass Course so that teachers can continue to learn on their own and progress in their abilities to teach writing once the session is over.
My students often refer to my templates as cheat codes. They certainly demystify the writing process and breakdown each FRQ for both exams into bitesize parts that are easy to navigate around.
I’d love to show you some fantastic tools that I’ve developed over my twenty-year career.
